MANILA- Philippines is a country that has been blessed with so many bright innovators that helped the change the world we are living today with the likes of Agapito Flores-the inventor of florescent lamp, Roberto del Rosario-the inventor of the Karaoke Sing Along System, Fe del Mundo- the inventor of the incubator, Eduardo San Juan- the inventor of the Lunar Rover or Moon Buggy and so on this time two new aspiring inventors take the spotlight.
Siblings Aisa Mijeno, a computer engineer and Ralphael Oscar Bryan Magtibay has created a special lamp that solely works with salt solution or a glass of water combined with two tablespoons of salt.
Their invention came to be when Aisa who works for Greenpeace was assigned in a rural community in the Philippines where electricity still hasn't reach it yet and people are still using kerosene-powered lanterns as their primary light source.
The lamp can run for eight hours at a time on one glass of water and two teaspoons of salt. The lamp is environment friendly and is safer to use than the usual kerosene-powered lamps usually available in that area.
The lamp also runs on sea water so the people who lives in nearby seasides can gather water directly from the sea and fill the lamp up to light it up.
The lamp is so versatile you can even charge your smartphone through the built-in USB port .
Thanks to this brother and sister inventor this inspiring innovation will help illuminate the lives of less fortunate people who are currently deprived with electricity.
